What’s new in the APX N Series

  • Smarter, faster operation. The APX N70 adds a mission-critical touchscreen with large, glove-friendly targets, plus streamlined menus and voice control (ViQi) for common actions like channel/zone changes—designed to keep eyes up and attention on the scene.
  • Modern connectivity. Optional LTE (mobile carrier internet for data apps), along with embedded Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® capabilities expand programming options and enable cloud-delivered features and seamless roaming between carrier service and your LMR system. All models are built for secure, efficient fleet updates.
  • Hear and be heard. Enhanced audio processing and loud speakers improve intelligibility in noise—critical for firegrounds, traffic stops, and event venues.
  • Rugged by design. APX N radios are IP68 and tested to military standards for dust, water and shock—ready for the job. Motorola provides 3” Corning© Gorilla® Glass for its touch screen, which is chemically strengthened for scratch, abrasion, and impact resistance, even under harsh conditions.

How N Series compares to prior APX portables

  • Against APX 6000 (single-band): N-series models retain the proven P25 voice performance and ruggedness of APX 6000 while adding modern UX (touch/voice on N70), connected apps/workflows, and streamlined programming over Wi-Fi. That’s a step forward for line units and support staff that don’t need multi-band but want 2025-grade usability and fleet management.
  • Against APX 8000 (all-band): APX 8000 remains a strong choice when true all-band (VHF/UHF/7-800) is mandatory. The APX N70 is single-band but adds the modern interface, optional LTE (mobile carrier) data for apps, and the N-line ergonomics; agencies that don’t need all-band can capture these “next-gen” benefits at a lower device class.
